I have always been drawn to combining delicate figurative sketches with raw industrial textures and materials. In Dazzle, I incorporated concrete, rebar, and chicken wire to create the timeworn setting and then switched to charcoal and gold leaf as I drew the softer, organic figure. Her minimal line work is meant to contrast against the dense, weathered surface surrounding her. The caging is intended to add the idea of protection and confinement, as her pose conveys the idea of surrender. The edges of the piece were burned using gunpowder to create the vignette that frames the composition.
